Oxytocin-Learning Back to the front door

The first thirty seconds

Somebody on your ward is going to tell you something difficult. What you say in the first thirty seconds decides whether that truth keeps travelling, or quietly stops with you. Spend your lunch break with us and leave with three things you can use on your next shift.

Forty-five minutes, in your lunch break

This is a working session, not a lecture. We take one kind of moment that happens on every ward, a colleague, a patient or a family member telling you something that is hard to hear, and we slow it down together.

It is for ward managers, nurses and everyone in NHS mental-health services who is told things and has to decide what happens next. Leads from NHS trusts are welcome too.

It is free. Cameras are optional, and you can put your questions in the chat without giving your name.

What we will cover

The first thirty seconds

What you say first, and why it decides whether anything happens after.

Where a truth leaks away

The four places a difficult truth most often stops travelling, and how to notice them on your own ward.

Closing the loop

How to go back to the person who told you, even when the answer is no.

Your questions

Fifteen minutes for your questions, answered by both of us.

Cannot make 12:30? Save your place anyway, and we will send you the recording the same afternoon.
